The Tunes That Communicate The Power Of The Word

To speak to people with the rhythm of the ghetto and deliver a message of hope and salvation is no easy task. Rap comes from the heart and experience and the rhythmic raps of Protek Illasheva take the art form to another spiritual dimension.

Amen

This begins with a prayer delivered emotionally and one we can all answer Amen.

“Holy Spirit, Father, Son

Bless this mic that I speak on

And everyone listening to my voice

May your days belong”

As the prayer develops we hear the artist’s connection to God being invoked with every beat dropped.

“Am not basket mouth, but am Bright enough

To know that it’s no joke, that he died for us

And he rose of cause, from the grave because

He is the king of kings, with mad love for us

Aye-Which Gang Do You Run With?

He says everything is fresh here and that is true. This tune tells us about the gang life he has lead. The literal translation of this three-lettered title means Jesus gang. In a world dominated by gangs, it is important to be in one with an inspiring leader. Protek Illasheva tells us how it is for him:-

“Jesus played the lead

And I follow”.

This is the haunting lyric that resonates here. At times he is speaking in tongues that have a depth and a beauty of their own but delivers the constant message that he loves the Lord Jesus Christ and will follow him without question.

Rapper Proteck Illasheva Sings the Message He Most Wants Us To Hear

Protek Illasheva works with some of the most influential artists of our generation and skillfully fuses traditional Nigerian melodies into his rap. With the message that says:-

Jesus you conquered the world.”

This song has a light and uplifting melody that reflects the dedication to and the Glory of Jesus Christ:-

“Call me king sunnier day I see no darker days”

The sampling on this track gives it a gospel vibe proving that the message is key and all music dedicated to the worship of Jesus Christ, Our Savior can be a united force. This act of fusion really lets us know that the testimonies that these artists want to communicate are the joys of accepting the Holy Spirit into your life. Listen to the lyrics- they are so powerful. The music stirs your soul and it becomes a part of your thoughts.

Working Together

In the spirit of many of today’s artists, there is collaboration. “Ngalaba” is a track that has a laid back vibe and the message of thanking God for all his gifts and blessings. The sounds of LoveWorld records Frank Edwards combine with the Protek Illashava on this reflective piece.  Enhanced with the melodious strummings of guitarist Nsikak we have a composite track.

His collaborative concerts will give you another experience. If the track “Ngalaba “which is Protek Illasheva Ft. Frank Edwards and Nsikak is anything to go by a concert featuring a cast of the cutting edge of gospel rap will be an experience not to be missed. They have the strapline-

“Don’t Be Told, So Be There.”

Protek Illasheva is hosting a series of gigs under the #counterculture featuring among others, Okey Sokay, Rap Nation, Frank Edwards,  Eben, Tim Godfrey, Testimony and, Password. It has been advertised on Ceflix and other outlets.  They are set to take Lagos by storm and with this level of talent, we are seeing a new era in Christian Rap which will up-level the outreach to the youth and encourage new believers from all corners of the globe. Praise Be.

Heavenly Melodies Africa, Overflow Africa Worship and Racheal Kabeba!

For the third year in a row, the Overflow Africa Worship conference has taken place, gathering worshippers, musicians and ministers to fellowship together and worship God in one Spirit. The conference was held at Christian Life Assembly (CLA) in Kigali, Rwanda over the weekend of August 25 – 27, 2019. This annual conference was established by Heavenly Melodies Africa, a group made up of worship leaders and pastors from various churches throughout Africa. The idea behind the Overflow Africa Worship conference is to provide a time and place for worshipers to convene from every walk of life and style and sharpen one another’s gifts. Just imagine what the worship services are like at the conferences!

Following the Overflow Africa Worship conference, Glory Iribagiza (The New Times, Rwanda’s Leading Daily) sat down with Zambian gospel artist, Racheal Kabeba to discuss musical inspiration, personal life and future career goals.

When asked about life outside of the music world, Kabeba did not skip a beat. Her passion for gospel music is a clear overflow of her passion for the gospel and serving others as Christ serves the Church. Her response:

“I am an entrepreneur. I run an academy called ‘Vocal House’, so I coach people. I train choirs, artists, both established and upcoming depending on their needs. I also love to mentor people, usually those ones I barely charge.”

In the interview, Kabeba expressed challenges she has faced over the years while working in the gospel music industry:

“I have been offered big contracts by different people, but there are always strings attached. They either want me to change the genre of my music, or they want me to change my writing style. Believe me I am human, I have got needs, but that’s how the enemy plots. I am glad though, that by the grace of God, I have been able to triumph.”

She continued to share about the trials she faces as a woman in the industry specifically and how starting out at the young age of 17, offered challenges she was not always prepared to face. When looking adversity in the face, Kabeba knew the only way about the noise would be to make your own. She pushed herself in order to prove others wrong when they would doubt her talent as a young girl.

With the favor of God that she always remained accountable to, she found her sound and is now leading worship for this powerful convergence of worship leaders from all over. Kabeba is thankful to God and to Heavenly Melodies Africa for putting together the Overflow African Worship conference. We look forward to hearing from her again at next year’s conference!

The One and Only CHIDINMA is Back with NEW WORSHIP!

The ever-so incredible Chidinma is back after a long and much-deserved sabbatical from the music entertainment world. With all the hits we know and love, we have never been so ready for her return to the scene and to take us all away!

Together with the one and only “gospel genius”, Frank Rich boy Edwards, Chidinma has reintroduced herself to the gospel entertainment world with her newest single titled “Holy”. The song is complete with a soulful choir and lyrics that will take you closer to God deep in your spirit.

Photo from Instagram: @frankrichboy

Formally known as Chidinma Ekile, season three winner of Project Fame West Africa gained her stage rights and began going by what we all call her, Chidinma. It did not take long for her to rise to the top at the start of her music career. With the release of her “Emi Ni Baller” music video, Chidinma became nationally recognized for being the first female musician to peak at number one on MTV Naija Top 10 chart. Additionally, Chidinma took the title of Best Female West African Act at the Kora Awards in 2012, where she performed her hit single at the time, Kedike.

With genuine praise and adoration to God, this song was birthed. When the Spirit of God comes to you, there is no other option than to worship His holy name! Chidinma and producer, Frank Edwards, wanted to create something that represented this outspoken reverence to the One most deserving of our worship. According to Chidinma, her talent is meant to bring glory to God while she leads her fans and followers into deeper communion with the Holy Spirit.

In her words,

“I remember when I discussed with @frankrichboy about recording a worship song, we literally didn’t know where to start but all he said to me was ‘relax God will give us a song’, we shared, he started to play the keys and we began to worship! Immediately he said just hold let me record this worship straight up!! And this song was birthed. I love God and this is me just expressing my love to Him.”

We are overjoyed to have new worship music from the lovely and talented Chidinma, as she returns to the stage with a refreshed sound. God is moving in powerful ways through music and as long as we continue giving Him the glory, He promises in His Word to bless us!

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

Seyi Israel and Eben Release New Single Together “Name Above Everything”!

There is nothing we love more at Good Gospel Playlist than a collaboration between two of our favorite gospel artists. The up and coming star, known mostly for his song “Wetin I Go Give You”, Seyi Israel has blessed us with something new, alas.

Joined by the award-winning artist, Eben, the new song called “Name Above Everything” is sure to fix your focus on the glorious things above. The song relays the complete power and authority that is in the name of Jesus. As believers, we sometimes rely more on the limitations or possibilities that others give us, but this song is a praiseworthy reminder that it is the name of God above everything, and nothing else comes before.

New Single by Seyi Israel and Eben

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:9-11

The lyrics are closely derived from the scripture in Philippians 2:9-11 and extremely influential in Seyi Israel’s walk with God. According to the official CeFLix Tunes report of the new song, the idea behind it comes from a revelation that God gave Seyi Israel,

the same way God has made the name of Jesus a symbol of supernatural power and authority, the singer, Seyi Israel explained how he got the inspiration to talk about the invisible name of Jesus, a revelation that came to him like a river flowing from his spirit.

Seyi Israel performing his new single “Name Above Everything” LIVE with One Sound Gospel

The years during university bring such questioning about identity and future plans. There are so many changes happening behind and before you that it can become hard to find where you are rooted. The “Made to Love Concert’ gathered thousands of young adults on July 25th at the LoveWorld Center, University of Port Harcourt (Uniport) in Southern Nigeria. This event came as a beautiful reminder for all students who may have forgotten the complete joy there is to experience in Christ. With several attendants committing their lives to the Lord for the first time, there were several rededications as well. Countless students at the concert experienced and witnessed the Holy Spirit in a fresh way.

John 16:22 “So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.”

The joy of the Lord was released as the room erupted with praise and dancing. As the glory of God took over the atmosphere in celebration, the presence of the Holy Spirit was overwhelming. Students were blessed beyond belief by the supernatural joy that broke out around the room. LoveWorld favorite, Testimony Jaga entered the stage bringing everyone to their feet for an incredible release of freedom in the Lord to dance and shout His praise.

Gospel Singer Ada Menakaya Releases New Single! “HE HAS DONE IT”

We are in the month of July and according to Christ Embassy and the man of God, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, this is the month of Thanksgiving! It appears the Lord has pressed upon many hearts the act and desire to give thanks as Nigerian gospel artist Ada Unoma Menakaya releases her newest single, “He Has Done It”. Something we are all at fault of in the Christian life is losing sight of just how much God has done for us. It is common for people to look at their situations and trust in the things around them, without really recognizing that we have God to thank for all things.

In an interview with Guardian Music, Ada Menakaya described her new hit single as a song of declaration and prophecy:

“He Has Done It is a song of declaration and prophesy that God can do all things if we believe in our hearts without a doubt. This song was written from a place of deep thanksgiving to God for what He has done in my life; it’s a song anybody can relate with.”

Menakaya is very pleased with the positive response and attention she has gained with her new releases and shares with fans of her anticipated plans for a new music video that is still to come! Menakaya thanks her faith-filled upbringing and the unrelenting pursuit of her family to raise her and her five other brothers and sisters in a home filled with gospel music from legends like the Clark Sisters, Whitney Houston, Don Moen and more.

“Those different styles of music, as well as a strong presence in the church, helped to shape me as a singer as well as a person. There was no time I was left with options of the message to carry. From the start, I just knew it was gospel and gospel alone. I represent Jesus Christ and all I want to do is fly the banner of Christ.” She told Guardian.

Ada even gives a shout out to one of her all-time faves, and ours too! Inspired by LoveWorld artist, Sinach, Ada mentions the strong women in the gospel music industry that are true worshippers of God. Ada lives a life of deep conviction for the Lord and the great pedestal He has given her to share His glorious name in praise and thanksgiving with the world. While it is often chosen by artists to cater to the more secular side of fame for the sake of being more “relevant”, Ada proclaims:

“It is strictly gospel that speaks to everyone regardless of tribe, race or creed, with the sole aim of bringing them to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. My mission is to authentically touch and impart lives and people of all ethnicities and generations around the globe with my music and see the word of God transform and change their lives, binding up the broken-hearted”

Check out this incredible sister’s new music and be inspired to give THANKS to God for everything He does for you – And stay tuned for the upcoming music video that you don’t want to miss!

NEW SINGLE – “Never Go Down” By LoveWorld’s Very Own Pastor Israel

With each new song released in the LoveWorld music scene, comes new depths of joy and pleasure in the Lord. The genre of Gospel music has brought people together from every walk of life and every nation to share in one purpose. The expression of God’s faithfulness comes to life through the words and sounds and all are invited into the sweet revelation of being one in Christ.

In this newest single, “Never Go Down”, Pastor Israel blows us away again with his incredible talent and mastery of bringing people to a position of praise and rejoicing.

Ceflix Tunes referred to the new track saying, “its undertone is imbued with a message of love and faith at the very core, it inspires a lifestyle that yields towards absolute love and trust in Jesus, even in failing and troubling circumstances.”

The song encourages those who may struggle with the understanding that God will never let us down. Even as the world fails us, God is still going to have favor on us. This is also an important reminder to all believers. We sometimes allow the world and the failure of man to creep into our minds and confuse us. Well, we were never promised a perfect world. However, we were promised a God who will sustain us through all imperfections and hardships.

Pastor Israel, also known as PI, brings us to this understanding beautifully and artistically with warm and upbeat sounds of hopefulness in Jesus Christ.

When Hollywood Hip-hop and Artistry Encounters God

It is always inspiring to see some of the greatest influencers in the world represent Christ on their platforms. If you have been following Good Gospel Playlist for some time, you may recall the famous Sunday Service Hip Hop Concert that captured the attention of music entertainment in America and hip-hop fans around the world. After spending time with friend and fellow artist Chance the Rapper, Kanye West reconnected with God through his relationship with Jesus. West felt compelled to share his faith on the stage and to offer an experience that would connect everyone to his love for God and gospel music.

Since the acclaimed Easter Sunrise service at world-renown Coachella Music Festival, West has channeled much of his new-found spiritual energy into his love of music and connection with people. Hollywood is talking about the on-going Sunday services that have been taking place for the greater part of 2019. Interviews with wife, Kim Kardashian-West and sisters, reveal what conspires at these services. While there is no element of teaching during these gatherings, it is an experience for all to come and connect with God through soul-stirring gospel music.

In the upcoming issue of Forbes magazine for August 2019, titled “Kanye’s Second Coming: Inside the Billion-Dollar Yeezy Empire”, West is featured on the front cover wearing a black hoodie in front of a black frame. He shares about the difficulties and blessings that God has walked him through in his career, bringing him to a more successful and healthier place in his life. In his in-depth profile, West references his diagnosis of bipolar disorder which placed him in the hospital for the latter part of his world tour in the year 2016.

“I’ll be working on home designs and looking at references from 3,000 years ago and reading the Old Testament at the same time so it’s like a soundtrack to the visuals, the shapes and the ideas we are creating. To a lot of my creative friends, I tell them the Bible is better than Pinterest. We can bring something into space and time we exist in while reflecting thousands of years of truth.” Kanye West, Forbes Interview (August 2019)

Kanye West shares in his Forbes interview of the one thing that has gotten him through the trials and tribulations he has faced, from being millions of dollars in debt to the suffering from mental illness. He admits to his submission to Christ by stating that “being in service to Christ, the radical obedience” has brought him through to experience the true blessings in a Christ-centered and Christ-focused life.

Along with wife and TV reality star, Kim Kardashian West, the two are committed to raising their family with reverence and faith in God and His great blessing through Jesus.
