Her Name Is Ada

Christ Embassy Choir Singer Ada

Ada Ogochukwu Ehi has a message to deliver to you all. This Nigerian born singer began her musical career at the tender age of 10 as a backing singer for Tosin Jegede. This graduate of Lagos State University joined the Christ Embassy Choir which springboarded her career.

From Choir To Record Deals

She signed to LoveWorld Records in 2009 and has been an active member of the Music Ministry of Christ Embassy. She has performed at Ministry events all over the world. This has given her a great platform to build her solo career. She was the first artist to sign for FreeNation Inc records.

Ada and her musical ministry

Her Debut Album “Undenied” was released on November 2009 while her second album “Lifted & So Fly”, a two-disc album, came out in November 2013. Her style is an eclectic mix of rock, soul, and pop which transmits her beautiful message. We also hear a fusion of Afro-pop and traditional melodies. At times there are messages of personal faith that are imprinted into your soul.

Inspiring Gospel Singer

You certainly feel “Lifted” when you listen to her music. By the time you have listened to “The Victory Song,” you are clear where she draws her inspiration from. Her faith in Jesus Christ is firm, and her understanding of the joyous love that faith brings. She has flipped the notion that a gospel singer is boring as she is “So Fly”. Her sounds are relevant as is her message.

She released her third studio album titled Future Now, on October 16, 2017, and was catapulted to the  no.1 spot on iTunes Nigeria the same day. You can really feel the connection with her enraptured audience. In an online interview with Alec Amos, she explains that her songs are a message. She has come to understand that her music is a gift

“Coming to understand my sound and the gift of music and being able to communicate effectively with music with everyone, young, old it is important that people understand that the future is now”

She goes on to explain that her message is spiritual. You should not be taken in by the bling that she wears. For Ada Jesus is the past, present as well as the future. Her gospel message is about the ever-presence of Christ. She is communicating the Gospel in the language that people are speaking today.

Perfect Harmony, Sublime Message

She is aware that she is fusing modern style with a devout message to Christian believers. She knows that music is listened to over and over until it becomes part of the unconscious. Her song “I Overcame” is a personal affirmation that can be repeated as a devotional hymn to praise the Lord Jesus Christ. This builds up to the hip-hop inspired  ”In Your Name”. The crowd is up on their feet and the energy of her performance is everything that is dynamic about worshipping Christ.

New Ep 2019
Ada’s EP1 2019

This year she has released the enigmatically titled Ada’s EP. You can find a link to it right here. Ada may be one of the most relevant young gospel stars of the future. Ada’s songs are a mirror into her Christian Soul. She sings:-

“You have made my future possible
Bigger than the biggest
Yet you live in me
You never compromise your love for me
I have put myself in you
For you are faithful till the end”

The song is “Faithful God” and this radiates to the crowds.

When Will Kanye West Release His Long-Awaited Album ?

Kanye Reaches Many Souls

Over 61 million people have seen the tracklist since Kim Kardashian revealed it last month on Instagram.  Husband Kanye West was set to release his ninth solo album on the 27th of September and its content hints at a possibly religious-themed album. With tracks titled “Baptized ” “God Is ” “Garden” and “Sweet Jesus,” it is hard not to second guess the direction that an album called “Jesus Is King” will be taking.

When being interviewed on “The View” Kim explained that Kanye has already created a “Sunday Service”. This she said was “to heal himself”. She goes on to explain that it was originally created for friends and family whilst they were in a rehearsal studio. Described as a “Christian ministry, musical service” that has helped Kanye heal himself, he now wants to share his prayers with worshippers.

Jesus Is King

This delayed and anticipated album comes after Kanye revealed his strengthened belief in Jesus Christ as his Savior. Kanye began the year by declaring “We will change the world. God is on my side. I am a Christian. I am a taxpayer. I am myself. God is with us.” This affirmation led to the “Sunday Service” becoming a regular part of West’s devotion.

Coachella And Beyond

The musical ministry features a gospel choir taking a lead on gospel songs and gospel-inspired hip-hop songs. The Sunday Service went viral thanks to the carefully timed posts by Cyhi the Prynce on Instagram. The performance in the hills of Calabasas captured the raw passion of Kanye’s joy.

Kanye West At Coachella

If you were there you will have had a sneak preview of the album track “Water”, which Kanye performed at his Sunday Service at Coachella in April. Fans at the festival heard this track during his set. With so many live performances, fans really want to know what will be on the forthcoming album as Kanye is never far from the limelight.

Kanye Is Reborn And Singing His Devotion.

We can only marvel at the road Kanye has taken. From an outdoors pop up music ministry to the California Worship Center in California, Kanye has been performing his mix of gospel and secular music in churches everywhere. He has continued to bring his service to places of worship from Atlanta to Chicago. He has just performed a huge Sunday Service on the 22nd of September in Cody, Wyoming where he has recently purchased a large family-sized mansion.

Kanyes Sunday service In Wyoming

Whatever the album contains, fans will enjoy Kanye’s soulful interpretations of his religious message.  His music reflects that journey where he has come to accept Jesus Christ as his Savior. It is something very personal that is declared joyfully in public. His Sunday Service is something to behold and his album “Jesus Is King” should add meaning to our music collections.

Further delays mean increased anticipation. According to Rolling Stone Magazine “the decision to delay Jesus Is King happened concurrently with a meeting West had with executives from his label, Def Jam.” Fortunately, fans can be inspired by his recent Sunday Service in Atlanta.

Gospel Artist TORI KELLY Talks New Album and Faith Journey!

The world has their eyes, hearts, and ears set on the incredible talent that is American gospel recording artist, Tori Kelly. Kelly hit the music scene with her debut album titled Unbreakable Smile. Now, four years later she has released her newest creative project Inspired by True Events. While sitting down for an interview with Hugh McIntyre of Forbes magazine, Kelly discusses her journey of moving through pop and gospel music, understanding her fans along the way, and expressing herself fully in everything she produces.

Kelly describes her new album, highlighting the stories and lyrics behind it all, claiming it as her most personal album.

“I think what probably happened naturally was I went to what felt comfortable, which is stripped down, raw, live instrumentation. Keep the music part of it really simple, to where the lyrics and my voice can pop more. I think my first album, Unbreakable Smile, was more like, “Here I am world! Here’s some pop songs and I’m going to sing all big!,” which is so much fun. I love that still. But with this album it felt like it was time to just kind of… They call this my “grown-up album.” I think every artist probably goes through that feeling of, “Hey I need to just say some things, whether or not it makes sense. This is my story. This is what needs to come out.” Hopefully, people connect with the songs and can relate to them. I’m being really honest on this album.”

Tori Kelly has fans from every walk of life. Thousands upon thousands have become exposed to gospel music since she has grabbed the world’s attention. As she dances in and out of different genres, she stays true to herself, her style and her fans.

“I went gospel, I went into that genre, and I have so much respect for that genre and it’s also so much a part of me. And not only the genre, but the message too, and what they’re singing about. My faith is a huge part of my life. To answer your question, it’s awesome to be able to say, “Yeah, I’ve done country songs. I’ve done gospel songs. I’ve kind of gone all over”, but from my perspective, it still feels like it’s me. It’s still my voice. I’m still putting all of myself into it. So if anything it’s fun for me to share and experiment. I don’t have to stick to one lane. I’ve been calling it life music. Life songs. It doesn’t always have to have a title on it.”

Don’t forget to check out Inspired by True Events and follow Tori Kelly for more releases and updates!

Heavenly Melodies Africa, Overflow Africa Worship and Racheal Kabeba!

For the third year in a row, the Overflow Africa Worship conference has taken place, gathering worshippers, musicians and ministers to fellowship together and worship God in one Spirit. The conference was held at Christian Life Assembly (CLA) in Kigali, Rwanda over the weekend of August 25 – 27, 2019. This annual conference was established by Heavenly Melodies Africa, a group made up of worship leaders and pastors from various churches throughout Africa. The idea behind the Overflow Africa Worship conference is to provide a time and place for worshipers to convene from every walk of life and style and sharpen one another’s gifts. Just imagine what the worship services are like at the conferences!

Following the Overflow Africa Worship conference, Glory Iribagiza (The New Times, Rwanda’s Leading Daily) sat down with Zambian gospel artist, Racheal Kabeba to discuss musical inspiration, personal life and future career goals.

When asked about life outside of the music world, Kabeba did not skip a beat. Her passion for gospel music is a clear overflow of her passion for the gospel and serving others as Christ serves the Church. Her response:

“I am an entrepreneur. I run an academy called ‘Vocal House’, so I coach people. I train choirs, artists, both established and upcoming depending on their needs. I also love to mentor people, usually those ones I barely charge.”

In the interview, Kabeba expressed challenges she has faced over the years while working in the gospel music industry:

“I have been offered big contracts by different people, but there are always strings attached. They either want me to change the genre of my music, or they want me to change my writing style. Believe me I am human, I have got needs, but that’s how the enemy plots. I am glad though, that by the grace of God, I have been able to triumph.”

She continued to share about the trials she faces as a woman in the industry specifically and how starting out at the young age of 17, offered challenges she was not always prepared to face. When looking adversity in the face, Kabeba knew the only way about the noise would be to make your own. She pushed herself in order to prove others wrong when they would doubt her talent as a young girl.

With the favor of God that she always remained accountable to, she found her sound and is now leading worship for this powerful convergence of worship leaders from all over. Kabeba is thankful to God and to Heavenly Melodies Africa for putting together the Overflow African Worship conference. We look forward to hearing from her again at next year’s conference!

The One and Only CHIDINMA is Back with NEW WORSHIP!

The ever-so incredible Chidinma is back after a long and much-deserved sabbatical from the music entertainment world. With all the hits we know and love, we have never been so ready for her return to the scene and to take us all away!

Together with the one and only “gospel genius”, Frank Rich boy Edwards, Chidinma has reintroduced herself to the gospel entertainment world with her newest single titled “Holy”. The song is complete with a soulful choir and lyrics that will take you closer to God deep in your spirit.

Photo from Instagram: @frankrichboy

Formally known as Chidinma Ekile, season three winner of Project Fame West Africa gained her stage rights and began going by what we all call her, Chidinma. It did not take long for her to rise to the top at the start of her music career. With the release of her “Emi Ni Baller” music video, Chidinma became nationally recognized for being the first female musician to peak at number one on MTV Naija Top 10 chart. Additionally, Chidinma took the title of Best Female West African Act at the Kora Awards in 2012, where she performed her hit single at the time, Kedike.

With genuine praise and adoration to God, this song was birthed. When the Spirit of God comes to you, there is no other option than to worship His holy name! Chidinma and producer, Frank Edwards, wanted to create something that represented this outspoken reverence to the One most deserving of our worship. According to Chidinma, her talent is meant to bring glory to God while she leads her fans and followers into deeper communion with the Holy Spirit.

In her words,

“I remember when I discussed with @frankrichboy about recording a worship song, we literally didn’t know where to start but all he said to me was ‘relax God will give us a song’, we shared, he started to play the keys and we began to worship! Immediately he said just hold let me record this worship straight up!! And this song was birthed. I love God and this is me just expressing my love to Him.”

We are overjoyed to have new worship music from the lovely and talented Chidinma, as she returns to the stage with a refreshed sound. God is moving in powerful ways through music and as long as we continue giving Him the glory, He promises in His Word to bless us!

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

Pop Sensation JUSTIN BIEBER Leads Worship and a Sermon at LA Church!

It’s not the first time the world is talking about pop singer and heartthrob, Justin Bieber’s fiery and outspoken faith in God. The young artist has made a conscious effort throughout his music career, since being discovered on YouTube at the age of 13, to share his faith in Jesus openly with the world. Through the ups and downs of adolescence, coupled with the insane amount of stardom and attention he was facing, this world got the best of him along the way.

After marrying the American model, Hailey Baldwin, Bieber began to return to the public eye with unapologetic faith and repentance. He saw his own struggles and trials as an opportunity to glorify the power and love of Jesus that he has continuously returned to. Hailey Baldwin-Bieber was raised in a strong Christian household and supports, champions and encourages her husband in his pursuit of Jesus.

Most recently, Bieber (25) has been taking to Instagram to update fans on his current spiritual awakening, back to reality and back to his eternal purpose of worshipping Jesus. Last Wednesday, on August 27th, Bieber joined the worship team on stage at Churchome in Beverly Hills. In leading his very first sermon under pastor and friend, Judah Smith, Bieber shared about finding strength in weakness and how powerful that strength is when you allow God to intervene.

In the video clip he shared on his Instagram, singing the songs “Never Would Have Made it” by Warren Sapp and “To Worship You I Live” by Israel Houghton, he also included an emotional and encouraging message to fans (the 13th most popular Instagram account, with over 118 Million followers).

In an interview with TMZ, Bieber described why he found this message to be so relevant and necessary for him to share:

“My whole message at church the other day was, there’s power in your weakness. So when you feel weak — there are so many people in this world who are struggling — there’s just power in that weakness. So, when you fight through that season you usually get to the other side, and it gets better,” he said.

Seyi Israel and Eben Release New Single Together “Name Above Everything”!

There is nothing we love more at Good Gospel Playlist than a collaboration between two of our favorite gospel artists. The up and coming star, known mostly for his song “Wetin I Go Give You”, Seyi Israel has blessed us with something new, alas.

Joined by the award-winning artist, Eben, the new song called “Name Above Everything” is sure to fix your focus on the glorious things above. The song relays the complete power and authority that is in the name of Jesus. As believers, we sometimes rely more on the limitations or possibilities that others give us, but this song is a praiseworthy reminder that it is the name of God above everything, and nothing else comes before.

New Single by Seyi Israel and Eben

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:9-11

The lyrics are closely derived from the scripture in Philippians 2:9-11 and extremely influential in Seyi Israel’s walk with God. According to the official CeFLix Tunes report of the new song, the idea behind it comes from a revelation that God gave Seyi Israel,

the same way God has made the name of Jesus a symbol of supernatural power and authority, the singer, Seyi Israel explained how he got the inspiration to talk about the invisible name of Jesus, a revelation that came to him like a river flowing from his spirit.

Seyi Israel performing his new single “Name Above Everything” LIVE with One Sound Gospel

With simple yet profound lyrics, Seyi Israel and Eben identify and call forth the authority and power that rests in the name of Jesus. This song is a reminder that all things are under Him and as we are considered sons and daughters, we call all things under the authority of Christ, as well.

Gospel Singer Ada Menakaya Releases New Single! “HE HAS DONE IT”

We are in the month of July and according to Christ Embassy and the man of God, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, this is the month of Thanksgiving! It appears the Lord has pressed upon many hearts the act and desire to give thanks as Nigerian gospel artist Ada Unoma Menakaya releases her newest single, “He Has Done It”. Something we are all at fault of in the Christian life is losing sight of just how much God has done for us. It is common for people to look at their situations and trust in the things around them, without really recognizing that we have God to thank for all things.

In an interview with Guardian Music, Ada Menakaya described her new hit single as a song of declaration and prophecy:

“He Has Done It is a song of declaration and prophesy that God can do all things if we believe in our hearts without a doubt. This song was written from a place of deep thanksgiving to God for what He has done in my life; it’s a song anybody can relate with.”

Menakaya is very pleased with the positive response and attention she has gained with her new releases and shares with fans of her anticipated plans for a new music video that is still to come! Menakaya thanks her faith-filled upbringing and the unrelenting pursuit of her family to raise her and her five other brothers and sisters in a home filled with gospel music from legends like the Clark Sisters, Whitney Houston, Don Moen and more.

“Those different styles of music, as well as a strong presence in the church, helped to shape me as a singer as well as a person. There was no time I was left with options of the message to carry. From the start, I just knew it was gospel and gospel alone. I represent Jesus Christ and all I want to do is fly the banner of Christ.” She told Guardian.

Ada even gives a shout out to one of her all-time faves, and ours too! Inspired by LoveWorld artist, Sinach, Ada mentions the strong women in the gospel music industry that are true worshippers of God. Ada lives a life of deep conviction for the Lord and the great pedestal He has given her to share His glorious name in praise and thanksgiving with the world. While it is often chosen by artists to cater to the more secular side of fame for the sake of being more “relevant”, Ada proclaims:

“It is strictly gospel that speaks to everyone regardless of tribe, race or creed, with the sole aim of bringing them to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. My mission is to authentically touch and impart lives and people of all ethnicities and generations around the globe with my music and see the word of God transform and change their lives, binding up the broken-hearted”

Check out this incredible sister’s new music and be inspired to give THANKS to God for everything He does for you – And stay tuned for the upcoming music video that you don’t want to miss!

When Hollywood Hip-hop and Artistry Encounters God

It is always inspiring to see some of the greatest influencers in the world represent Christ on their platforms. If you have been following Good Gospel Playlist for some time, you may recall the famous Sunday Service Hip Hop Concert that captured the attention of music entertainment in America and hip-hop fans around the world. After spending time with friend and fellow artist Chance the Rapper, Kanye West reconnected with God through his relationship with Jesus. West felt compelled to share his faith on the stage and to offer an experience that would connect everyone to his love for God and gospel music.

Since the acclaimed Easter Sunrise service at world-renown Coachella Music Festival, West has channeled much of his new-found spiritual energy into his love of music and connection with people. Hollywood is talking about the on-going Sunday services that have been taking place for the greater part of 2019. Interviews with wife, Kim Kardashian-West and sisters, reveal what conspires at these services. While there is no element of teaching during these gatherings, it is an experience for all to come and connect with God through soul-stirring gospel music.

In the upcoming issue of Forbes magazine for August 2019, titled “Kanye’s Second Coming: Inside the Billion-Dollar Yeezy Empire”, West is featured on the front cover wearing a black hoodie in front of a black frame. He shares about the difficulties and blessings that God has walked him through in his career, bringing him to a more successful and healthier place in his life. In his in-depth profile, West references his diagnosis of bipolar disorder which placed him in the hospital for the latter part of his world tour in the year 2016.

“I’ll be working on home designs and looking at references from 3,000 years ago and reading the Old Testament at the same time so it’s like a soundtrack to the visuals, the shapes and the ideas we are creating. To a lot of my creative friends, I tell them the Bible is better than Pinterest. We can bring something into space and time we exist in while reflecting thousands of years of truth.” Kanye West, Forbes Interview (August 2019)

Kanye West shares in his Forbes interview of the one thing that has gotten him through the trials and tribulations he has faced, from being millions of dollars in debt to the suffering from mental illness. He admits to his submission to Christ by stating that “being in service to Christ, the radical obedience” has brought him through to experience the true blessings in a Christ-centered and Christ-focused life.

Along with wife and TV reality star, Kim Kardashian West, the two are committed to raising their family with reverence and faith in God and His great blessing through Jesus.

Grammy Award-winning Gospel Choir Jubilation Commemorates “Black Music Month” with 20th Anniversary Reunion Gala

Every year since 1979, the month of June has been recognized internationally, though mostly in the western world, as “Black Music Month”. The month of celebratory recognition and historical enrichment was first established by the 39th United States President Jimmy Carter. It is still widely supported today as President Barak Obama described in his 2016 proclamation, the richness of culture that African-American artists and music have helped America “to dance, to express our faith through song, to march against injustice, and to defend our country’s enduring promise of freedom and opportunity for all.”

After a terrible stroke, Rev. Dr. Stefanie R. Minatee, founder and artistic director of Grammy Award-winning gospel choir ‘Jubilation’, took a break from the choir without knowing when or if she could ever return. Well, God has bigger plans than any stroke or life-threatening incident. As there could not be a more opportune time for the Jubilation Gospel Choir to reunite with their founder, Minatee is back and ready for more of God.

In an interview with Billboard, Minatee shares how grateful she is to be alive and to still be able to spread God’s goodness in her life:

“God kept me here for a purpose. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be alive and still minister. Most stroke victims can’t talk or move, but he spared me. And I want to share with the world what he’s done.”

In honor of this great reunion, the famous gospel choir held a prestigious gala event at their home theater, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, on June 22nd, 2019. Not only was this event held to celebrate 20 years of incredible gospel music, but it was also the very first-time Minatee performed in that theater since before her stroke.

While Jubilation was always known throughout the gospel music scene, it was not until their featured debut on Queen Latifah’s 2009 compilation album called “Oh Happy Day: An All-Star Music Celebration” that the group was officially recognized for and awarded and Grammy. Following this, the group had the incredible opportunity to sing with Latifah in the 2010 Super Bowl. Latifah served as an honorary chair for the Jubilation reunion event, as her mother is a close friend to Minatee and member of the choir.

At the gala, Jubilation performed songs from over six albums and even sang a new song for honored guests called “It’s All About You”. This project captured the complete inspiration and witness of Minatee’s most difficult times since the stroke and how the Lord’s presence was always there for her. She states, “I’m talking on the single as I couldn’t sing the way I wanted to, but it’s a blessing.”

Minatee anxiously prepared for this celebratory night and all the joy that it will bring people. As she was joined on stage by singers from all over the country, she was overwhelmed with the support from all and looks forward to a new inspiring season with her beloved, Jubilation.
